René Wijngaard

Trekking in Nepal.

R. R. (René) Wijngaard, MSc. is a hydrologist with a strong background in catchment hydrology, hydro-climatological modelling, and programming. He received his BSc degree in Earth Sciences, and his MSc degree in Water Science and Management, both from Utrecht University. His education provided him with knowledge in the fields of hydrology and water management, and with the skills necessary for conducting scientific research. During his graduation internship at the alpS Centre for Climate Change Adaptation, Innsbruck, Austria he investigated the effects of future climate change on the hydrological response of glacierized catchments in the Ötztal, Austria, improved his knowledge in the fields of hydro-climatology and glacio-hydrology, and developed skills such as hydrological modelling and programming. René worked as a research employee at Utrecht University where he investigated the impacts of climate change on metal and pathogen transport in lowland catchments. Since 2016 he is working as hydrologist at FutureWater, working on projects focussing on the impacts of climate change on (mountainous) catchments.
