A two-day workshop will be organized this month in Tirana (Albania), oriented toward developing crop modeling expertise. The training will be institutionally focused at the Agricultural Technology Transfer Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, with participation of other institutional staff from across the country. FutureWater will lead the majority of the sessions.

The capacity building session takes place within the advisory program “Reducing Vulnerability to Climate Change in Agricultural Systems” which objective is to enhance the ability of four countries in Europe and Central Asia (ECA), including Albania. Local experts will be provided with an introduction on the possible consequences of climate change on agriculture and water resources and the tools to quantify the impacts. Also they will get hands-on training in using and applying the FAO model AquaCrop to evaluate the climate impact on crop yields.
