Jean holds a master’s degree in Climate Studies from Wageningen University & Research, and a bachelor’s degree in Earth, Energy and Sustainability from Leiden University College.

His interdisciplinary background, at the interface of both the social and natural sciences, allows him to combine knowledge and tools from various disciplines to tackle complex socio-environmental challenges. In his master’s, he specialized in the evaluation of (future) climate change impacts and adaptation strategies in the water sector, using GIS, modelling tools and participatory approaches. His master’s thesis work, focused on compound and consecutive flood-drought events at the global scale, provided him with in-depth knowledge of extreme event analysis, Python programming, and hydrological modelling. At FutureWater, Jean is working on climate data enhancement methods to improve the accuracy of hydrological projections and climate risk assessments.
