The MegaWat project has been featured in the latest edition of iAgua Magazine, as one of the flagship Water4All projects contributing to strengthening water resilience across Europe. The article presents MegaWat alongside seven other innovative initiatives addressing drought, climate extremes and ecosystem degradation through research and practical solutions.

The feature highlights MegaWat’s objective of improving our understanding of how prolonged megadroughts affect Europe’s mountain “water towers” and the downstream river basins that depend on them. The project combines regional climate analysis with high-resolution water and energy balance modelling in three pilot regions: the Pyrenees, the Apennines and the Swiss Alps. The article also acknowledges FutureWater’s role in leading the development of decision-support tools and resilience assessments that help water managers anticipate future changes in mountain water availability.
