From 3–14 September 2026, FutureWater joined the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Dili, Timor-Leste, for an implementation mission under the regional Technical Assistance project Bridging the Gap Between Adaptation Planning and Financing. The mission brought together key government institutions, development partners and private-sector stakeholders to advance the development of Timor-Leste’s Climate Adaptation Investment Plan (CAIP).

As part of the mission, ADB and the Ministry of Tourism and Environment organized a two-day multi-stakeholder workshop with around 70 participants from national and municipal government, development partners, NGOs and academia. FutureWater presented and discussed results from the climate risk assessment and supported the prioritization of adaptation measures and the development of investment packages, with a particular focus on agriculture and water resources.

The mission marks an important step towards translating Timor-Leste’s climate adaptation priorities into concrete and financeable investment opportunities. FutureWater will continue supporting ADB and the Government of Timor-Leste in further developing the adaptation investment packages and finalizing the CAIP, which is expected to be validated with stakeholders later in 2026.
