In October 2015 FutureWater offers a training course on water resources modelling using the Spatial Process in Hydrology (SPHY) model in Wageningen, the Netherlands. In response to various water-related challenges, FutureWater and its partners have developed the Spatial Processes in HYdrology (SPHY) model and applied the model in various research projects. SPHY is a state-of-the-art, easy to use, robust tool, that can be applied for operational as well as strategic decision support. The SPHY modeling package is available in the public domain, only uses open source software and is free of charge.

This training course will cover the modelling concepts of the SPHY model, its development background and underlying theory, and some typical cases in which the SPHY model has been applied. More importantly, hands-on training will be provided in setting up the SPHY model, creating the required model input data, running the model, and analyzing model output. Besides setting up the SPHY model for a case study catchment, the course participants are invited to setup the SPHY model for their own area of interest. Training will be provided by FutureWater staff who have multiple years of world-wide, professional modeling experience.
